Tradition and Quality

Lux Cafe Club's ceremonial matcha undergoes a meticulous production process rooted in tradition and quality. Sourced from small family farms in the prime region of Uji, Japan, the tea leaves undergo intensive shading for weeks before harvest, enriching flavor, color, and nutrient levels. The Tea Masters ensure consistency in quality across all matcha grades. Harvested once a year starting in May, the matcha is stored in cool conditions to preserve its freshness and vibrant green hue. Ceremonial matcha is made from the youngest, most tender tea leaves, typically harvested by hand. These leaves are carefully selected for their vibrant green color and delicate flavor profile.

How to Experience Matcha Magic

Matcha green tea offers versatile usage, adding depth and vibrancy to various culinary creations beyond traditional tea ceremonies.

For a traditional cup of matcha tea, here are some suggestions:

  1. Sift Matcha Powder: Use a fine mesh sieve to sift 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a small bowl or cup. This step helps break up any clumps and ensures a smooth texture.
  2. Heat Water: Heat about 2 ounces (60 ml) of water to around 175°F (80°C). It's essential not to use boiling water, as it can make the matcha bitter.
  3. Whisk Matcha: Pour a small amount of hot water into the bowl with the sifted matcha powder. Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk to gently mix the matcha and water into a smooth paste.
  4. Add Remaining Water: Once the matcha is smooth, pour the remaining hot water into the bowl.
  5. Whisk Vigorously: Using the bamboo whisk, whisk the matcha and water vigorously in a zig-zag motion until frothy. This step helps incorporate air into the tea, creating a creamy texture.
  6. Serve: Pour the prepared matcha tea into a cup and enjoy immediately.

You can adjust the amount of matcha powder and water based on your taste preferences. Additionally, you can sweeten the matcha tea with a small amount of honey or sugar if desired.
