The Blue Bottle Coffee Fukuoka Tenjin Cafe, located within Kego Shrine's precincts, was designed to bridge city life with the tranquility of a shrine. It faces a bustling street on one side and a serene shrine approach on the other. The design centralizes the kitchen, creating a visual transition from urban to spiritual. A height difference was used to create a dynamic street-side space that transitions to a calmer area with sofa seating near the shrine. Materials like light beige stained extruded cement panels and walnut wood were chosen to harmonize with the urban and shrine environments, making the cafe a peaceful nexus for city dwellers and shrine visitors alike.
