Wydown Café Shutters - Staff Blindsided by Sudden Closure

Wydown Café, beloved for its specialty brews, has closed both D.C. locations. Workers learned of the shutdown just hours before their last shift. The café's owners, Chad and Alex McCracken, posted the news online but gave no reason. Employees believe the closure aims to avoid a union election. The staff recently formed the Wydown Workers United Union over workplace concerns. Now, 30 employees are left to find new jobs as the union considers its next steps. Protests erupted outside the H Street location, with workers distributing flyers to inform customers of their plight.
