Winery, Coffee Shop, Home Win Historic Revitalization Awards

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society has announced the winners of the 2024 Commercial Revitalization Awards, spotlighting the impressive efforts to preserve and rejuvenate historical structures in the Youngstown area. Among the honorees is the Woodland Estates winery, a project by Nate and Dani Wilson, who transformed a dilapidated mansion in Liberty Township into a thriving winery and restaurant. The mansion, a Greek Revival structure with rich historical significance, had been unused for over a decade before its revival. Trek Coffee House on Mahoning Avenue, another winner, was formerly an auto parts store and supermarket before its complete renovation by RBF Colab architectural firm and owners Levi Smith and Paul Hagman. The coffee shop now serves as a vibrant community hub. Additionally, David and Sherry Goddard received the Community Revitalization Award for their meticulous preservation of a historic home in Canfield. These awards highlight the dedication of individuals and organizations to maintaining the architectural heritage of the Mahoning Valley. The awards ceremony will be held on June 25 at the former IBM Building in downtown Youngstown, where the MVHS will also conduct its annual membership meeting.
