Wawa, the beloved convenience store chain, is celebrating its 60th anniversary by offering all customers free hot coffee of any size on April 16. In addition to the free coffee, Wawa stores will also be featuring select items such as teas, juices, lemonade, and a special birthday cake donut for just 60 cents. Each store will honor a "Day Brightener," a valued customer, with special gifts. Wawa, which has more than 1,000 locations in six states and Washington, D.C., is known for its popular branded coffee, which was introduced in the 1970s. The company, with roots dating back to 1803, opened its first food market in 1964 in Folsom, Pennsylvania, and continues to expand, recently announcing plans to enter the Georgia market.
