Vietnam Coffee Prices Rise

The prices of coffee in Vietnam have edged higher this week due to scarce supplies, with farmers in the Central Highlands offering coffee at a range of 33,000 dong to 33,500 dong per kilogram, up from 32,500 dong to 33,300 dong last week. Traders attribute the price increase to the depletion of inventory and the need for exporters to fulfill their contracts. However, they do not expect prices to rise further as the new harvest season is set to begin next month, with a bumper harvest expected. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, trading volumes have declined sharply as stocks begin to dry up with the harvest approaching its end. The premiums for grade 4 defect 80 robusta in Lampung have narrowed to $80 to the November contract, and are expected to remain stable until mid-October. The coffee market is likely to experience a period of stability in the coming weeks, with prices remaining relatively steady as the new harvest season approaches.
