Valentine Coffee is set to open a new 1,200 square-foot coffee shop at 3124 N. Downer Ave., close to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. Although the establishment won't be ready in time for the start of UWM's fall semester, owner Robb Kashevarof has announced that it will open sometime in the fall. The menu at the new location will replicate that of the Third Ward shop at 189 N. Milwaukee St., which began operations in 2022. The new cafe will feature seating for 30 to 40 patrons. Kashevarof aims to attract a diverse clientele, particularly students and locals from the surrounding neighborhood. The coffee shop will be situated next to Old Guard Games, a tabletop game store that opened in May as part of a two-year renovation project by Ben Checota, who also owns the game store. This will mark the third location for Valentine Coffee, joining its other outlets in the Third Ward and Washington Heights neighborhoods.
