Toxic Trio - Coffee, Rice, and Eggs

This alarming study sheds light on the hidden dangers lurking in some of our favorite foods and beverages. Researchers analyzing blood plasma and breast milk samples from 3,000 individuals discovered that people who consume coffee, white rice, and chicken eggs have higher levels of toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in their bodies. These persistent chemicals, used to make products resistant to heat, stains, and water, have been linked to a plethora of health issues, including cancer, birth defects, and liver and thyroid diseases. The study highlights the need for environmental stewardship and keeping PFAS out of the environment and food chain. While the sources of contamination are varied, from tainted soil and cookware to sewage sludge and contaminated water, the solution may lie in adopting diets rich in fruit, whole grain, and fiber. As the lead researcher notes, these diets not only reduce exposure to PFAS but also other contaminants in food.
