The Surprising Health Benefits of Your Desk Coffee

Drinking coffee at your desk might do more than just keep you awake; it could extend your life. Researchers from Soochow University in China have discovered that consuming two to three cups of coffee a day can significantly reduce the risk of premature death for desk-bound workers. Over a decade-long study involving more than 10,000 U.S. adults, the scientists found that those who spent six or more hours sitting each day were one-third less likely to die prematurely if they drank coffee compared to those who didn't. The study, published in BMC Public Health, highlights the powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of coffee. These properties help counteract the inflammation and tissue damage caused by prolonged inactivity. The findings suggest that incorporating a moderate amount of coffee into your daily routine can offer protective health benefits, particularly for those who lead sedentary lifestyles.
