Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea's East Liberty Street location in Ann Arbor is set to close on June 23 after nearly a decade. Franchisee Shelia Qin Li announced the closure due to the expiration of their lease, which was not renewed in time. The building, managed by Hugh Properties, previously housed a Borders bookstore. CFO Patricia Fix stated that the space has been leased to another tenant, though their identity remains undisclosed. Sweetwaters missed the renewal deadline, leading to the space being offered to another business. Despite the setback, Qin Li expressed her commitment to finding a new location in Ann Arbor to continue serving the community. Sweetwaters, which started in Ann Arbor in 1993 and began franchising in 2005, has been a beloved part of the local community. Qin Li thanked the customers for their support and assured that the search for a new venue is underway.
