Starbucks Drops Non-Dairy Milk Fees to Boost Plant-Based Options

Starbucks is making a significant change to its menu that benefits customers who prefer plant-based milk. Starting November 7, the coffee chain will no longer charge extra for non-dairy milk options like soy, almond, coconut, and oat. This decision comes after years of criticism from vegans and animal rights activists who argued that the surcharge was unfair. Nearly half of Starbucks customers choose non-dairy alternatives, and removing the fee is expected to lower prices by over 10% at locations nationwide. Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol emphasizes the importance of customization in the Starbucks experience and aims to enhance customer satisfaction. Alongside this change, the company will also discontinue its controversial Oleato drinks and some promotional offerings to streamline service. These adjustments reflect a broader strategy to make visits to Starbucks more enjoyable and efficient for all customers.
