Sextant Coffee Roasters, led by Ethiopia-born Kinani Ahmed, is introducing a unique East African coffee experience in the Bay Area. The cafe's menu features traditional drinks from East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, like the Wired Gandhi and ginger gasheer, as well as innovative offerings including the Frosty Gandhi. Beyond beverages, Sextant plans to introduce a pastry program with Ethiopian, French, and Italian influences, and already serves open-faced sandwiches and cold-pressed juices. Despite challenges on Valencia Street post-pandemic, Ahmed is optimistic and preparing for both a grand opening party and the cafe's 10th-anniversary celebration. Sextant Coffee Roasters is a testament to the evolving Fourth Wave coffee scene that champions innovation and inclusivity in the industry.
