Q Grader Scholarships Aim to Democratize Coffee Expertise

Good Form Coffee and Royal Coffee are offering two scholarships for an upcoming Q Grader course at The Crown in Oakland. The Q Grader certification is one of the toughest in the coffee industry, requiring extensive study and passing 20 challenging tests. The certification is expensive, often costing thousands of dollars, particularly if travel is involved. The goal of these scholarships is to provide access to this valuable certification for coffee professionals who cannot afford it, thereby democratizing coffee knowledge.

The six-day course, scheduled for July 27th through August 1st, will be taught by Trish Rothgeb, co-founder of Good Form and owner of Wrecking Ball Coffee, alongside Evan Gilman, Royal Coffee’s Creative Director. The course will cover all nine modules necessary for Q certification. Applications for the scholarship are open until July 12th, with recipients being notified by July 17th. While the scholarship covers the course fee, recipients will need to cover their own meals, transportation, and lodging.
