PT's Coffee Ends Overland Park Project, Focuses on Wholesale Growth

PT’s Coffee has abandoned its long-awaited plan to open a shop in Overland Park. The former Mac’s 66 gas station site will now go up for sale. Owners Jeff Taylor and Fred Polzin decided to focus on their expanding wholesale business. The decision comes after years of delays, with the project initially set to open in early 2020. PT’s Coffee, founded in Topeka in 1993, has two other Kansas City locations. The Overland Park Planning Commission had approved the drive-thru coffee shop in 2017, but the plan never materialized. This is not the first coffee venture to fall through in the area; Kansas City-based Messenger Coffee Co. also scrapped plans for a location in Overland Park’s Prairiefire shopping district last year.
