Optimize Your Coffee Times for Healthier Living

Coffee, a beloved beverage worldwide, offers both mental and physical health benefits when consumed correctly. According to nutritionist Michaela Clauss, the optimal time to drink coffee is right after a meal, particularly breakfast, as it maximizes coffee's metabolic benefits while minimizing potential negative effects on blood sugar and stress hormones. Conversely, drinking coffee on an empty stomach or close to bedtime can disrupt your sleep cycle and stress levels. Clauss recommends finishing coffee consumption by 10 a.m. if your bedtime is at 10 p.m., ensuring a better night's sleep. Additionally, while two to three cups of coffee per day can decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease, exceeding this amount may lead to adverse health effects. Therefore, timing and moderation are key to harnessing coffee’s benefits without the drawbacks.
