New Sustainability Programs Boost Coffee Industry's Eco-Friendly Efforts

Global Coffee Platform (GCP) has recently recognized four new sustainability programs, enhancing its Coffee Sustainability Reference Code (Coffee SR Code). This initiative aims to strengthen environmental practices within the coffee sector. GCP's Executive Director, Annette Pensel, praised the alignment of these programs with sustainability principles. The total number of recognized schemes has now reached 23, reflecting a positive trend towards unity in coffee sustainability.

• The newly recognized programs include Cooxupé’s Gerações, Comexim’s Green Trace, Perhusa’s ARTS, and Touton’s.

• GCP's recognition allows members to use these schemes for their sustainability efforts.

• The partnership with the International Trade Centre ensures fair assessment of these programs.

• The Coffee SR Code serves as a common framework for sustainability practices across the coffee supply chain.

This development is significant as it fosters collaboration and shared understanding among stakeholders, promoting a more sustainable future for the coffee industry. It encourages collective action, which is essential for addressing environmental challenges.
