Jay Wong, a West Valley native, has taken ownership of the cherished Big Basin Cafe in Saratoga Village as of June 1. Wong, drawn to the cafe’s strong foundation and community spirit, plans to maintain the current menu while considering future updates to keep things fresh. Currently, online orders are suspended as Wong establishes a new website. This change in ownership occurs alongside Saratoga’s broader efforts to boost the economic vitality of its commercial areas, spearheaded by a local ad hoc committee. Wong, however, intends to focus on settling into his new role and not participate in these efforts for now. The cafe's continuity is a relief to the community, especially amidst the recent closure of other local landmarks like Saratoga Dry Cleaners. The Village Development Council has expressed optimism about the cafe's future under Wong's leadership, highlighting its significance as a social hub for residents.
