New MAKE Cafe - A Taste of Community and Empowerment

A new cafe in Normal Heights, MAKE Cafe, combines delicious food with a powerful mission. It aims to provide job training and support for refugee and immigrant women. Since 2017, MAKE Projects has helped nearly 400 women from over 30 countries. The cafe serves as both a restaurant and a training space, offering hands-on experience in agriculture, hospitality, and food preparation.

• The cafe spans 5,000 square feet and features a garden.

• Executive Chef Ashley McBrady leads the kitchen, focusing on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

• The menu is globally inspired, showcasing diverse flavors from the San Diego community.

• The grand opening event is free, with music, food samples, and family-friendly activities.

This initiative matters because it not only provides great food but also empowers women and builds community connections. By supporting MAKE Cafe, patrons contribute to a meaningful cause that fosters long-term employment opportunities for those in need.
