Laura Ly, a Glenside resident, is bringing a much-needed coffee shop to the area with the launch of Recess, slated to open in the fall at the former MIY Artistry location. Ly, a former real estate agent turned bartender, was inspired to open the shop after visiting Game Junkie with her son and realizing the need for a coffee spot in the area. With zoning, water, and sewer approvals in place, Ly is eager to create a "breath of fresh air" in the community, offering gourmet top-quality coffee and light snacks in a welcoming atmosphere. Her goal is to create an "adult recess" where locals can grab a quick cup of coffee or relax and unwind. Ly has launched a GoFundMe to help cover startup costs and is hopeful that the community will support her endeavor. As a local resident, Ly is committed to being a part of Glenside's tradition and providing a refuge for young professionals and students in the area.
