A new coffee shop has opened in downtown Baton Rouge, combining House Brew and Smoky Bean Roasting Co. under one roof. This unique space, located at 227 Florida St., operates as a “coffee lab,” allowing customers to watch their drinks being prepared. Co-owners Manning Bergeron and Joe Foster, along with new partner Samm Clark, aim to create a welcoming environment that blends coffee culture with creativity. The shop features a cozy atmosphere, complete with ambient lighting and a ceiling adorned with coffee bags.
• The shop offers a variety of seasonal drinks, including the Toasted Marshmallow Latte and Bananas Foster Latte.
• It operates daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., catering to the after-work crowd.
• Customers can enjoy pastries from Mid City Bakery and teas from Adornleaf Tea Co.
• Plans for future events and classes on coffee roasting are in the works.
This new location not only provides a permanent spot for these coffee concepts but also fosters community engagement. By partnering with Digital Knomad, the owners hope to create a vibrant space that supports local artists and hosts educational events. This initiative reflects a growing trend of combining food, beverage, and creative experiences, making it a significant addition to the downtown area.
