Miami Gas Station Blunder - Coffee and Croquetas Tossed After Inspection

A Miami gas station convenience store faced significant scrutiny when a state inspector deemed its coffee, croquetas, and several other food items unfit for human consumption. The inspection, conducted by James Zheng from the Florida Department of Agriculture, highlighted multiple violations at the Downstairs store located at the 6795 Miller Dr. BP station. The store was found to be operating beyond its permitted scope as a “convenience store with limited food service,” instead functioning more like a full-service food establishment. Key issues included the absence of soap and hot water at handwashing sinks, contamination from live flies on prepared foods, improper use of equipment, and employees failing to use hair restraints. Additionally, cold storage units were not maintaining the required temperatures, with some units measuring up to 62 degrees instead of the necessary 41 degrees or below. Hot foods were also found below the safe temperature threshold, leading to Stop Sale Orders on several items. These violations resulted in the disposal of various food products, underscoring the importance of adhering to food safety regulations.
