Maclean’s Bakery to Get a Makeover; Coffee Shop Faces Indefinite Closure

Maclean’s Highland Bakery in Grantown is set for a significant refurbishment, but the attached coffee shop will close indefinitely due to staffing challenges. Managing Director Lewis Maclean shared insights into the decision, emphasizing the struggle to recruit staff over the past two years, affecting not only hospitality but various trades across Moray. The company has been planning the renovation for a year, inspired by other successful business models in Scotland. The chosen shopfitter’s design impressed the team, promising a fantastic new look for both the bakery and the coffee shop. However, the fear of not being able to handle increased coffee shop traffic led to the tough decision to focus solely on the bakery for now. The revamped bakery aims to enhance the customer experience and operational efficiency. Maclean’s history traces back to the Western Isles, gaining a stellar reputation in Forres since 1978. The new look bakery is slated to open on June 17.
