Lufthansa is reversing its 2021 decision to eliminate free drinks and snacks in short haul economy. Starting summer 2024, the airline will offer free coffee and tea in this class. This move aims to boost customer satisfaction, which has dropped in recent years. However, all other food and drinks will remain purchasable. This decision reflects the broader European trend of inconsistent service levels in economy class. While some airlines have fully embraced the buy-on-board model, others still provide complimentary snacks and drinks. Lufthansa’s trial is a minor step towards enhancing passenger experience, but it's unclear if it will significantly impact customer loyalty or satisfaction.
