Cinema on the Sound, an independent movie theater in the Bronx, is giving local residents an exciting opportunity to be part of its upcoming film, "Tales of Clipper Coffee." The cinema, which opened in 2022 at 270 City Island Ave., has been a cultural hub for filmmakers and creatives, emphasizing community building. The film, inspired by the eclectic conversations overheard at the neighboring Clipper Coffee shop, will be a fictional anthology reminiscent of "The Twilight Zone." Jerry Landi, the cinema’s manager, is seeking extras and possibly actors for speaking roles. The project also opens doors for Bronx filmmakers to write and direct episodes. Clipper Coffee, established in 2018 and lauded for fostering artistic community, is where interested participants should gather on July 19 at 5 p.m. While unpaid, the roles offer networking opportunities and a chance to be part of a Bronx-centric creative endeavor. The cinema continues to thrive, hosting a variety of cultural events, and recently received support from Amazon.
