Steven Horn, a former Google executive and entrepreneur, has taken the reins of Reno's Laughing Cat Coffee, the city's first specialty coffee roaster established in 1990. Horn’s passion for coffee, developed over five years of garage roasting, has propelled him into this new venture. The café has undergone significant renovations, including a refreshed coffee bar and public seating, where the roasting process is now visible to patrons. Horn aims to honor the brand’s heritage while introducing innovative elements, such as film-inspired coffee blends and rotating single-origin beans. The new setup features advanced coffee equipment, including a San Franciscan SF 25 roaster and a Slayer Steam espresso machine, emphasizing quality and sustainability. Horn collaborates with industry experts for ethical sourcing and uses 100% compostable to-go ware. With an official reopening set for June 7, Horn is working with creatives and specialists to ensure Laughing Cat Coffee continues to be a community hub.
