Hana and Johnny Chu, known for their restaurant KungFood Chu’s AmerAsia, are now venturing into the coffee world with Kung Brew in Covington. This new spot aims to blend Asian culture with the cozy vibe of a local café. Taking over the former Bean Haus Bakery and Cafe, they’ve infused the space with art and antiques collected over 15 years. Hana, with roots in Okinawa, and Johnny, from Taiwan, plan to offer a robust selection of teas alongside their coffee. They promise a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for remote workers, but expect lively weekends. Their tea will be sourced directly from Asia, including Johnny’s uncle’s farm in Taiwan. The couple envisions Kung Brew as more than just a café, but a vibrant community hub.
