Keurig Dr Pepper Boosts K-Cup Pod Recyclability

Keurig Dr Pepper has made significant strides in increasing the recyclability of its K-Cup coffee pods and reducing plastic usage, as detailed in its 2023 Corporate Responsibility Report. The company has successfully reduced plastic in each pod by 18% and removed PP discs in some pods, resulting in the elimination of 14 million pounds of virgin plastic. Despite facing challenges and legal issues in the past, Keurig Dr Pepper is committed to improving the recyclability of its pods, acknowledging that many communities still lack the infrastructure to accept certain polypropylene containers for recycling. The company is working with individual communities and recyclers to address this issue through investment, collaboration, and advocacy. Additionally, Keurig Dr Pepper has co-founded organizations that enhance recycling infrastructure and educate consumers on proper recycling behaviors. The company's efforts are a step in the right direction, but there is still much work to be done to achieve widespread recyclability of its K-Cup pods.
