Kansas City’s New Cafe Promises Community and Quick Bites

Nikole Ammer, owner of two Kansas City cafes, is starting her first ground-up project with Murmuration Eatery & Cocktail Bar. Set to open late summer or early fall at 307 Main St., it will be next to her City Market Coffee Roasters. Weekday menus will focus on sit-down dining, while weekends will offer quick-service options like stuffed doughnut holes, mini waffles on a stick, and “tornado” potatoes. Ammer aims to cater to the weekend rush without long waits. Murmuration will also feature soups, salads, sandwiches, and mocktails. A wall between the two shops will be partially knocked down to create a unified space. Ammer envisions Murmuration as a community hub, inspired by the natural phenomenon of birds flocking together, symbolizing unity and safety.
