Neglecting to clean your Keurig coffee maker can result in mold growth and affect the taste of your coffee. Regular deep-cleaning is essential to ensure your machine remains hygienic and operates efficiently. Mold and bacteria thrive in the leftover coffee grounds and residues if not appropriately maintained. Start by wiping down the exterior daily with a damp cloth to remove any spills or stains. Regularly wash the drip tray and the water reservoir with warm soapy water, and consider using a dishwasher if the parts are dishwasher-safe. The coffee carafe and basket also need cleaning, especially if you have a K-Duo model. The pod holder, often the dirtiest part, should be cleaned weekly but ideally wiped down daily. For a thorough clean, remove the pod-holder assembly and scrub away any stubborn coffee stains. Descale the brewing mechanism every three months using a vinegar-water solution or a commercial descaling agent to remove buildup and ensure optimal performance.
