Honoring Heritage - Jaffa Coffee Roasters' Journey in Berkeley

The Gaith brothers—Majdi, Noor, and Sami—honor their Palestinian heritage through their coffee-roasting business and newly opened cafe, Jaffa Coffee Roasters, named after the historic port city of Jaffa. Born and raised in Napa Valley, the brothers pursued different college paths before uniting to start their business. Sami, with a background in chemical engineering, leads the coffee roasting. Noor, a certified Q Grade barista, manages the cafe, while Majdi, a political science major, serves as the brand architect and baker. Jaffa Coffee Roasters began as a pop-up and has engaged in charity events supporting Palestine and the local Muslim community. The cafe offers unique drinks like the choco capp, Jaffa orange latte, and crayma float. With plans to introduce pastries, the Gaith brothers aim to celebrate Jaffa’s famous oranges and Palestinian culture. Despite occasional disagreements, they emphasize unity and sincerity in their business operations.
