In a bold move, entrepreneur Erin Buhr has introduced a novel concept to the Twin Cities - a Farmer Cafe, where millennials can pay to hang out with real farmers, complete with overalls and tractors. Buhr's clever idea has already gained popularity among college students, who are willing to shell out $20 an hour to bask in the presence of Stan, Earl, Pete, and Art, a group of farmers who have been recruited to provide a rural experience in the city. The farmers, in turn, receive a small salary and tips, provided they dress the part. Buhr's vision is to create a space where people can connect with the agricultural community, and her plan to open a second shop in St. Paul is already in the works. As the concept takes off, it's clear that Buhr has tapped into a desire for authenticity and community, even if it means paying for the privilege.
