Equator Coffees Expands to Sonoma with New Café Location

A new café by Equator Coffees is coming to Sonoma Marketplace, marking the company's first location in Sonoma County. The Sonoma Planning Commission approved the permit during a meeting on February 20. Founded by Helen Russell and Brooke McDonnell in 1995, Equator Coffees is a woman-owned business known for its organic and fair-trade coffee. The café will be located at 201 West Napa Street, Suite 5, and will feature both indoor and outdoor seating.

• The café will have a total of 750 square feet, with three tables and five chairs indoors, plus 11 tables and 34 seats outdoors.

• It will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and employ around 10 staff members.

• The menu will include coffee, tea, pastries, and small plates like paninis.

• Minor renovations will be made, such as adding counter space and a new outswing door.

This new location is significant as it will enhance the local economy and provide a community gathering spot. The café aligns with the city’s plans and will help foster a vibrant merchant corridor in Sonoma.
