Good Ground Coffee Company in Cumberland County is set to have its grand opening on May 14. Founded by Messiah University graduates Rachel Beatty and Rachel Ferrence, the coffee shop aims to employ survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation, helping overcome employment barriers. The initiative is in partnership with Peace Promise, a nonprofit that has supported trafficking survivors since 2008. This coffee shop provides not only jobs but also personal development opportunities in a trauma-informed setting. The founders hope this venture allows survivors to pursue their early dreams, offering a menu of coffee, pastries, and meals.
