Ediya Coffee Signs Master Franchise Agreement for Malaysian Expansion

South Korea's popular coffee chain, Ediya Coffee, has taken a significant step in its global expansion journey by signing a master franchise agreement in Malaysia. This strategic move will see Ediya Coffee partner with a local consortium that includes a dining franchise company and a distribution specialist. The agreement aims to open three stores in Malaysia by the end of the year, with plans to expand to 200 stores within five years. Ediya Coffee will leverage its roasting plant to supply high-quality coffee beans and ingredients directly to Malaysia, ensuring consistency and quality across its franchises. This expansion is not just about entering a new market but also about tapping into the global halal market, which is a significant growth area. Ediya Coffee's Chairman, Moon Chang-ki, expressed optimism that this venture would pave the way for further expansion into the Southeast Asian coffee market. The brand's first overseas franchise was opened in Guam last December, and with nearly 3,000 stores currently in operation, Ediya Coffee is on its way to becoming the first in its industry to reach 4,000 stores. The company also exports a range of products, including stick coffee and ready-to-drink beverages, to 23 regions, including the United States and Hong Kong.
