Keurig has introduced a new eco-conscious product with their fully compostable plant-based K-Rounds designed for the brand's upcoming Keurig Alta machine. The K-Rounds are made of pressed coffee grounds with a cellulose coating, aiming for 100% compostability prior to their market launch in 2025. These pods promise versatility and customization in brewing, with options for espresso, regular coffee, and iced drinks. However, to use the new K-Rounds, consumers will need the new Alta machine, as older Keurig models are incompatible. The K-Rounds and the Alta machine will enter beta testing later this year. Despite being priced at a premium, the K-Rounds are a step towards a more sustainable future in single-serve coffee, with CEO Bob Gamgort expressing ambitions to redefine coffee brewing for the coming decades.
