Discover Feminist and Queer-Owned Sightseer Coffee in Austin

Tucked inside Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop is Austin’s newest coffee gem, Sightseer Coffee, a feminist and queer-owned business run by Kimberly Zash and Sara Gibson. The coffee bar offers an array of specialty espresso drinks, pour-overs, and cold brews, with a unique twist: all their coffee is farmed, sourced, and roasted by women. Signature drinks honor extraordinary women, such as the Teaches of Peaches, a cold brew with peach nectar and mint syrup, and the Fade Into You, a latte inspired by Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval. The founders, who met at Greater Goods Coffee, launched Sightseer as a roasting company in 2022, with a mission to empower women in the coffee industry by sourcing exclusively from female producers and paying higher-than-fair Trade prices. Sightseer aims to foster a love for coffee without pretension, inviting customers to enjoy baked goods from Sugar Mama’s along with their brews. Located at 1905 S. 1st Street, Sightseer is open from Tuesday to Sunday and will celebrate its grand opening on June 29th, offering special discounts, free goodies, and a raffle benefiting Out Youth.
