Discourse Coffee Workshop in Milwaukee has launched a special Pride Month menu called The Gay Agenda, featuring seven unique drinks inspired by queer cultural icons and milestones from the past 50 years. Each drink represents a different color of the rainbow, a concept that emerged organically during a planning meeting. The workshop, whose staff is 85% queer, found the process empowering. Notable drinks include the Blue Star, created by Destiny DeVooght, combining spirulina, blueberry juice, tonic, bitters, and sous vide coffee with pickled blueberry skin. Another highlight is the affogato I Know A B When I See One, crafted by Alex Prevost, featuring a complex yellow ice cream with dandelion and turmeric, paired with a spherified Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee blend. Discourse's creative director, Ryan Castelaz, emphasizes the importance of balancing creativity with customer preferences, noting that most of The Gay Agenda drinks are tea-based for flavor transparency. The menu has received overwhelmingly positive feedback and has attracted new customers, reinforcing the workshop's commitment to representation and celebration of the queer community.
