Coffee's Surprising Benefit

Scientists have discovered that coffee may help offset some of the harm caused by a sedentary lifestyle. Researchers from Soochow University found that people who do not drink coffee have a higher all-cause mortality rate than coffee drinkers. The study, published in the journal BMC Public Health, suggests that drinking coffee may help negate some of the harmful effects of sitting for long periods of time. The researchers analyzed data from almost 10,700 participants and found that sitting for more than eight hours a day was linked to an increased risk of both all-cause and heart disease-related mortality. However, those who drank the most coffee appeared to have reduced mortality risk compared to those who did not drink coffee. This study's findings highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle, including regular physical activity and moderate coffee consumption, in reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
