Coffeehouse Five Unveils New Roasting Room with a Cause

Coffeehouse Five, a local Greenwood coffee chain, has made its coffee roasting process a visible spectacle with the introduction of a new roasting room in Franklin. Opening in 2014, owners Brian and Michelle Peters have consistently aimed to offer superior coffee while contributing positively to the community through their "for-benefit" business model. This model not only focuses on delivering high-quality coffee by roasting beans in-house at their 41 W. Monroe St. location but also extends to offering free counseling services. The new facility features a glass wall allowing customers to observe the roasting process, promoting transparency and education about their unique airbed roasting technique. This method enhances flavor by reducing bitterness compared to traditional drum roasting. The initiative aligns with their mission to educate and involve the community, with plans to host events and tastings in the newly completed roasting room.
