Coffee Prices Soar - Hawaii Tops the List of Most Expensive States

Hawaii takes the crown as the most expensive state for a regular cup of coffee, with an average price of $4.89, which is 59% higher than the national average, according to a report from Toast, a restaurant point of sale and management system. The costs are driven up by factors such as the price of milk and shipping expenses. Following Hawaii, California ranks second with an average price of $3.88, and Washington comes in third at $3.69. Arizona and Massachusetts also make the top five with prices of $3.51 and $3.49, respectively. In stark contrast, Nebraska offers the cheapest coffee at $2.12 per cup, marking it 31% lower than the national average. Nearly three in four Americans consume coffee daily, making it the second-most consumed beverage in the country, just behind water. Americans collectively drink 400 million cups of coffee each day, highlighting the vast market and varied pricing across states.
