A popular coffee chain in Johnson County has a new owner. Coffee Emporium, with locations in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, and Tiffin, was sold to Alex Nelson and his wife, Jordan. They own other businesses, including a wedding venue and a baby boutique. The couple aims to expand their portfolio and connect their coffee business with their event and hospitality ventures. They plan to maintain the current menu while introducing new drinks, emphasizing local sourcing by keeping Capanna Coffee Roasters as the supplier. A rebranding effort is underway, including remodeling some locations to enhance the customer experience. The previous owner, Abby Ochs, prioritized selling to local entrepreneurs who share her vision for growth. The Nelsons hope to eventually expand into Linn County, marking an exciting new chapter for Coffee Emporium.
