Chicago's French Press Perks Up Democratic National Convention

With the Democratic National Convention set to take place in Chicago next month, the spotlight isn't only on the political heavyweights but also on local businesses ready to serve the influx of attendees. Among these businesses is the Chicago French Press, a coffee cart that will be available to ensure delegates stay caffeinated throughout the event. CEO Kris Christian, who began her coffee roasting venture online in 2017 and expanded into physical storefronts during the pandemic, is excited to play a crucial role in this high-profile event. From August 19 to August 22, Christian’s team will keep the political figures fueled with their specialty brews. Kevin O'Brien, Vice President of Hospitality Operations at McCormick Place, emphasized the importance of coffee at such events and acknowledged the magnitude of the preparations. With an expected attendance of 3,000 to 5,000 people, Chicago French Press will be brewing approximately 20,000 cups of coffee using 500 pounds of beans. This event also opens doors for other local entrepreneurs to showcase their goods and services, highlighting the significant economic opportunities conventions like the DNC bring to the host city.
