Caravan Achieves B Corp Certification for Coffee and Restaurant Business

London's Caravan has earned B Corp certification, joining other UK specialty coffee roasters like Origin Coffee and Grind. Scoring 83.3 in its B Impact Assessment, well above the global average of 50.9, Caravan attributes this achievement to its unique dual business model as both a specialty coffee roaster and hospitality group. The company operates eight outlets, three coffee brew bars, and a 10,000 sq ft roastery in London, with plans to expand to Manchester. Co-founder and CEO Laura Harper-Hinton highlighted the importance of their Female Producer Programme, which sources at least 50% of coffee from women-owned farms, along with charity partnerships, sustainable practices, and energy-efficient roasting. Caravan uses an eco-friendly Loring Peregrine S70 grinder that reduces gas usage by up to 80%. B Corp certification requires companies to meet rigorous standards in governance, worker treatment, community engagement, environmental impact, and customer relations, with reevaluation every three years.
