Club Coffee, a major Canadian coffee roaster, has unveiled a new sustainable packaging solution for whole bean and ground coffee. Acquired by ofi in 2022, Club Coffee collaborated with Graphic Packaging International to develop the AromaPak® using Boardio® technology. This paper-based packaging is now widely recyclable and significantly reduces carbon emissions and plastic use. Despite the pandemic challenges, the innovation process was quick, leading to a market launch in just 500 days. Loblaw Companies Ltd. has already adopted this eco-friendly option, replacing traditional unrecyclable packaging. Club Coffee’s new paper-based canisters offer a fresh, sustainable choice for consumers and have earned multiple industry awards for their innovation.
