The latest statistics on coffee prices in the US reveal a surprising trend: the cost of a cup of coffee varies greatly depending on the state and city you're in. According to a study by CashNetUSA, the average price of a cup of coffee ranges from $2 to $4 across the country, but in cities like Eugene, Oregon, Houston, Texas, and Salem, Oregon, a cup of coffee costs more than 17 percent of the average hourly pay in each city. The study also found that the cheapest state to buy coffee in is Maine, with an average price of $2.60, while the most expensive is South Dakota, with an average price of $3.79. Massachusetts, home of Dunkin' Donuts, was found to have the most affordable coffee, with the average cup costing about 10 percent of the average hourly wage. On the other hand, Mississippi has the least affordable coffee, with the average cup costing more than 18 percent of the state's average hourly wage. These findings raise questions about the fairness of coffee pricing and how it affects different communities. As a coffee lover, it's hard not to feel a sense of injustice when you realize that the cost of a cup of coffee can be a significant burden on some people's wallets.
