Bonte Cafe - A Green Oasis in the Urban Jungle of Hoi An

This article explores Bonte Cafe, a unique architectural project by Yen Architecture in Hoi An, Vietnam. Located on the outskirts of the city, Bonte Cafe serves as a sanctuary that reconnects urban dwellers with nature. The building is enveloped by various layers of vegetation, including tall trees, shrubs, and vines, effectively creating a natural cooling system and contributing to a cleaner environment. The design features a flexible door system that can be opened to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, promoting better air circulation and a sense of openness. The cafe spans three stories, with each level catering to different needs—social interaction on the ground floor, a mix of social and quiet spaces on the first level, and a secluded area for work and study on the top floor. The materials used are kept in their natural state, showcasing the craftsmanship of local artisans. This project highlights the potential of thoughtful design to enhance urban living by integrating natural elements into the built environment.
