The Perk Downtown Coffee & Tea House in Colorado Springs will close on May 26. Owners Don and Kay Heaberlin cited retirement and post-pandemic challenges for the closure. The Perk was a community staple, offering coffee, food, and event space. Downtown rents and a shrinking customer base also played roles. A GoFundMe campaign aims to support staff affected by the closure. Downtown has seen other business closures but also some new openings.
