A new coffee shop, Amai Coffee, has opened at the corner of Pico Blvd and 17th Street, offering a unique blend of Asian-inspired beverages and traditional coffee favorites. The venue, formerly home to Rocco’s Cheesecake, now features an array of innovative drinks such as the Turon banana latte and the strawberry matcha latte, alongside a selection of pastries and cheesecakes. The idea for Amai Coffee came from Van Corrales and his business partner Vicki Vo, who already operated a successful boba tea shop in Torrance. They chose the site to open quickly and preserve the legacy of the beloved local bakery. The shop's menu highlights include a rich Vietnamese Phin drip coffee topped with sea salt foam and cocoa powder. Corrales emphasizes that Amai Coffee aims to enhance the community experience by offering familiar flavors with an Asian twist while maintaining a connection to Rocco’s Cheesecake’s legacy.
